PRINTING AND PAPER SELECTION
All photographs are printed on CANSON paper by Z LAB – Jean Jacques Micheli, arguably the finest photographic printer in Belgium. He uses the Piezography PRO process, which consists of 10 inks plus a varnish (4 warm-toned inks and 4 cool-toned inks, one matte black and one photo black). The prints are produced using monochromatic inks based on carbon pigments.
Â
This process offers the following advantages:
• Superior black density (dMax) with maximum resolution fidelity
• No metamerism effects thanks to pure monochromatic pigments
• Split toning capability with custom curves allowing the addition of cool or warm tones at different luminosity levels
• Exceptional longevity of 150 years conservation
Â
Among the papers available, These notably include Canson Infinity Baryta Prestige 340 g/mÇ, a glossy baryta paper evoking the appearance of traditional silver gelatin papers. I regularly use Fine Art baryta paper.
PAPER FORMAT
All photographs are printed on paper in 60 x 40 or 40 x 40 cm format, depending on the case. The image is framed to 40,2 x 26,8 cm or 26,8 x 26 cm depending on the case, which leaves a very elegant white border (mat).
